Verification

Required for everyone, done once, and it usually takes about five minutes.

Before a card can be issued, we need to confirm who you are. It’s a one-time step: you photograph your ID, take a selfie and upload proof of address. In most cases the decision comes back within about five minutes.

Why it’s required

Identity verification is a requirement of card schemes, issuing partners and financial regulators. Without it, no card can be issued, not by us and not by anyone else. There are no exceptions and no “light” modes: every Magic Pay customer goes through the same check.

What you need

  • A valid passport, national ID card or driver’s license.
  • A selfie: a short liveness check with your phone camera.
  • Proof of address, such as a utility bill or bank statement.
  • You must be 18 or over (or the age of majority where you live, if higher).

What to expect

  1. Sign upCreate an account at app.magic.top with your email and a password.
  2. Take a photo of your IDUse your phone camera on the original document, not a scan and not a photo of a screen.
  3. Take a selfieFollow the on-screen prompts. It takes a few seconds.
  4. Upload proof of addressA document that shows your name and current address.
  5. Get a decisionUsually within about five minutes. If verification is declined, you’ll see the reason and can resubmit your documents.

Who runs the check

Verification is performed by Sumsub, a specialized identity verification provider used by banks, exchanges and payment companies worldwide. Your documents are checked automatically and, where needed, by a compliance specialist.

Levels

There are none. One check gives you access to everything: virtual and physical cards, top-ups, Apple Pay and Google Pay, ATM withdrawals. You won’t be asked to “upgrade” later.

How we store and protect your documents is described in the Privacy Policy.
